    Poppy Art Installation

Third Form Art pupils and staff have created a stunning commemorative poppy display, following the year group’s cross-curricular visit to the Battlefield sites of France and Belgium in October. The eye-catching art installation, located on a wall near the Lewis Hall, features 104 beautiful ceramic poppies – 64 made by pupils and 40 by staff. Each one was handmade, fired and glazed during a 50-minute lesson. The photographs below show them drying out at ‘leather hard’ stage, before first firing; pale pink after being dipped in glaze and awaiting their second firing; the finished poppies on display on the West Lawn for the School's Act of Remembrance; the wall of poppies near the Lewis Hall.
