Welcome from the Preparatory School Headmaster

Set in stunning surroundings, we offer a unique environment for your child to grow, learn and play. When you visit you will find a friendly, busy school with a distinctive family atmosphere. At its heart beats a strong sense of community, where everyone is encouraged to be involved and where everybody’s contribution is valued.

Here, traditional values such as good manners are as important as good marks and we believe in fostering a strong partnership with parents so that the responsibility for each child’s education and development is shared.  We are very proud of our high quality pastoral care and that all staff take the time to get to know each and every child and what makes them tick.

Class sizes are small and our year groups all have at least two classes so children have plenty of scope to establish a broad range of friendships while learning to integrate newcomers with ease.  Specialist teaching from the youngest of ages brings an added dimension to learning and our enviable facilities are enhanced through regular access to the first class facilities at the Senior School. We are an integral part of the wider Kimbolton School community.

A busy extra-curricular programme complements our broad curriculum and each actively promotes wider personal development and ensures that every child becomes confident, self-assured and is well prepared academically and socially to face the challenges that life brings.  Our successes are most notable in the outstanding calibre of genuinely rounded boys and girls that move on at the end of Year 6.  Almost all of our children progress, with their friends, to the Senior School and the familiar environment smoothes their transition to secondary education at age 11.

The Preparatory School is a very special place, a safe place, a place where children have the room to spread their wings, explore and have fun.

I hope you enjoy exploring our website further. There is, however, no substitute for a personal visit and I would be delighted to show you round our school so you can see for yourself why the children flourish here.
