Kimbolton Preparatory School is an independent day school for boys and girls aged four to eleven years. To the west of Kimbolton village the Preparatory School is located within its own attractive grounds linked to the Senior School by means of a pathway, the ‘Duchess Walk’.

Boys and girls join the School at four years of age in Aragon House. This is a purpose built unit for young children encompassing Reception, Year One and Year Two (Key Stage One). It is here that the children are educated in a safe, welcoming and happy environment until the age of seven years. The children automatically progress to the Key Stage Two section of the School until the age of eleven years.

In the February of their Year Six, pupils sit the entrance examination for the Senior School alongside the candidates from other schools. The vast majority of our Preparatory School pupils join the Senior School.

Children may also join the School when places are available after assessment or by examination and interview at 7+, 8+, 9+ and 10+.

We offer your child every opportunity to gain a first class education in a family orientated environment situated in superb surroundings. This, allied with strong teaching, will prepare your child fully for the future.

Ethos

The School offers small classes where your child’s potential can be realised in a happy, caring community. Relationships are based upon respect and trust of one another. It is within this environment that children achieve and their self-esteem and confidence grows. Individual needs are quickly assessed and the appropriate educational measures are taken. The discipline engendered in the classroom is evident in all areas of School life, be it on the games field or during the wide ranging extra-curricular activities that are on offer.

Assemblies, Form Periods or House Meetings take place every day and these are supplemented by the Personal and Social Health Education and Citizenship lessons to give a cohesive system of Pastoral Care.

The School has strong communication with parents; the Head and the Teachers are readily available to parents to enable a strong partnership which shares the responsibility of your child’s education and development. There are several opportunities to meet your child’s teacher during the year and there are also formal written reports.

I do hope that you have enjoyed visiting this site and that it has given you a ‘flavour’ of what the School is about. I am sure that all your queries have not been answered but I would be delighted to show you the School in operation and discuss these queries further. The best time to see a School is when it is in operation and to see the children at work and play, as they are the best ambassadors of the School. My secretary will readily make an appointment for you should you wish to visit.
