Spring Term 2019: The Great KSPA £34k Give-Away!

Whilst some might think February dull, for the Kimbolton School Parent’s Association (KSPA), it was one of the highlights of the year.

After months of event co-ordination, and some very memorable evenings, the KSPA Grants committee were delighted to give away a rather impressive sum. Indeed, grants totalling over £34,000 were made, each helping to enhance school activities.

The Grants Committee, which includes the Headmaster, the Bursar, the Head Girl and Head Boy plus two members of the KSPA considered requests submitted by staff throughout the Prep and the Senior School. And, thanks to the fantastic sum which the KSPA was able to make available, the majority of grant requests were met.

Derek Suckling, chair of the KSPA said, “Attending our grants meetings has got to be one of the best parts of being involved with the KSPA! It’s great to be able to give the money away and this time, we have been able to award funds for a superb range of items. Just some of the items our work will help to purchase include 7 Stand Up Paddleboards, craft and cooking materials, Young Explorer Play Tower, Board Games, supplies and models for the Warhammer Modelling Club, Bushcraft Equipment, support for Shakespeare Workshops and the Ingrams Newspaper. No matter which year your child is in, Senior School or Prep, they will certainly enjoy the benefits of the grants we have been able to make”

Every guest who supports the KSPA events not only has a great evening out, be it a music extravaganza, gin tasting, fireworks, a quiz night … but also helps to raise money to enrich the wide variety of extra-curricular activities on offer at the school.

However it isn’t just about benefits for the school. Importantly, the KSPA also raises money for different charities, both local and national, often causes close to the hearts of pupils.
Recently, the Rushden Branch of the Salvation Army and the Mental Health and Emotional Well-being Service for Children and Young People - CHUMS Bedfordshire benefited from funds raised at the Christmas Fair.

And our Butterfly Ball on 4th May will be raising money for Action against Cancer and The Will Templeton Foundation for Young People’s Mental Health - now those are two great reasons to book one of the last few tables and get your dancing shoes on!

By raising money for fantastic organisations such as these, the KSPA helps to demonstrate that Kimbolton School, the parents, pupils and staff are also very keen to be supportive of good causes within the wider community.

The KSPA will be announcing exciting new events for this summer, within the coming weeks, and despite the recent very sad news about Kimbolton Fireworks' closure, we will still be staging an exceptional Firework Display next autumn.
