Biology and Chemistry - Summer 2023
Our Biology and Chemistry Masterclasses aim to bring together like-minded Year 5 children (Year 6 in the Autumn Term) from local primary schools to work through a variety of stimulating scientific investigations using techniques and equipment that are not usually available to children of this age.
In Summer Term 2023 we will be holding two identical courses (‘Fitzpiers’ and ‘Stafford’). Each course will comprise four sessions of 90 minutes duration, with two sessions on each subject. Taught by subject specialists, the courses will run in parallel but will complete the sessions in a different order to each other.
Session | Timings | Sessions |

*Please note that the two courses will complete the sessions in a different order from each other and not necessarily in the order outlined above.

Sat 17 June - Session 3 | 0930-1100 | |
Sat 24 June - Session 4 | Class 0915-1045; final presentation 1045-1115 |
Although each session is independent of the others, we expect children to attend all the Masterclasses in their course. There is no charge but places are limited and we cannot guarantee a place for every child who applies.
We have written to headteachers of participating schools to invite them to nominate suitable children. The deadline for applications is 9 am on Wednesday 22 March. We will email all parents/carers by the evening of Wednesday 29 March to inform them of their success or otherwise in obtaining a place. Please check your junk/spam box if you have not heard from us by this date. Our next series after this one will be in Autumn Term 2023 for 2023-24 Year 6 pupils.
