U14 Netball Team Qualifies for Regional Finals
Congratulations to Kimbolton’s U14 netball team, who have qualified for the regional finals of the National Schools Netball Competition.
Congratulations to Kimbolton’s U14 netball team, who have qualified for the regional finals of the National Schools Netball Competition. Our girls came overall second out of 12 teams in the county stage of the competition, which was held at The Perse School, Cambridge, on 15 November.
Third Formers Amber Butterfield, Molly Dean, Freya Dingwall, Lorna Lewsley, Ruby Milne, Amy Tonkin and Harriet Wilson all played superbly, winning matches against Longsands Academy (3-1); St Mary’s School, Cambridge (8-3); Comberton Village College (12-2); and King’s (The Cathedral School), Peterborough (9-3).
Netball coach Mrs Janet O’Brien said: “The girls didn’t lose a game all day until the final, which they lost by just one goal (6-7) to overall winners the Stephen Perse Foundation. Considering the netball season doesn’t start until January this is an amazing achievement. They played so well under pressure and were a real credit to Kimbolton School.”
The National Schools Competition is the biggest schools competition in the netball calendar. It consists of three age groups; U14, U16 and U19 and commences at either an area or county round, with schools finishing as winners or runners up in each age group progressing through to the next stage of the competition.
This will be Kimbolton's second time at the regionals, having entered the competition for the first time (and qualified) last year. The girls play again on 31 January 2015 – go Kimbolton!
