    Musical Trio Make Their Mark

Isabella Hopkins, Anna Muñoz and Charlotte Wright have all enjoyed notable success recently - and are looking forward to some exciting performance opportunities.

Kimbolton School MusiciansA trio of talented Senior School pupils are making their mark in the musical world with some exciting achievements and performance opportunities. Isabella Hopkins (Third Form), Anna Muñoz (Fifth Form) and Charlotte Wright (First Form) have all enjoyed notable success recently and are looking forward to honing their skills over the Summer.

We were delighted to hear that 13-year-old clarinettist Isabella Hopkins has won a coveted place in Aldeburgh Young Musicians (AYM) – a centre for advanced training, designed to realise the artistic potential of exceptionally talented young musicians across a wide range of music.

Their recent performances have included The Royal Festival Hall, Aldeburgh Festival and Snape Proms, Spitalfields Festival, London Jazz Festival, and Latitide Festival. In January, AYM performed at the National Holocaust Memorial event in front of HRH Prince Charles and the Prime Minister, broadcast on BBC.

Meanwhile, gifted 16-year-old mezzo-soprano Anna Muñoz was recently named Oundle Young Singer of the Year at the 2015 Oundle Festival of Music and Drama. Anna has successfully auditioned for the Junior Guildhall School of Music and is also a member of the National Youth Theatre. Her ambition is to be accepted into a conservatoire to study voice and specialise in opera.

Between GCSE exams, Anna will be performing on 1 June in London at a special charity piano recital with internationally acclaimed pianist Panos Karan. All funds from the concert will support the charity Keys of Change’s musical activities and the Condor Trust’s educational programme in Ecuador.

Finally, this month cornet player Charlotte, 12, helped her band Youth Brass 2000 retain their National Youth title. She will now be going to Lille, France, to represent England at the European Brass Band Championships in May 2016. The band, based in Wilbarston, Northamptonshire, regularly tour the UK and have been selected to perform at the Music for Youth National Festival, Birmingham, on 9 July 2015.

Anna, Izzy and Charlotte have all received Kimbolton School music exhibitions and play an active role in our many ensembles, including the School Orchestra, the Brass Group and the Chamber Choir.  Kimbolton School Director of Music, Mr David Gibbs, said: "It has been a privilege to watch these young musicians develop their talents over the past few years through our various instrumental ensembles and choirs at school, and I am delighted that they have now won the wider recognition that they so thoroughly deserve through such prestigious competitions and musical organisations as the AYM, Youth Brass 2000 and the Oundle Young Musician of the Year."
