Many of our Senior School pupils are involved in trips this summer both at home and abroad. New this year is the week-long Ingrams French Immersion Residential.
Based in Château de la Baudonnière, Normandy, the aim of the July trip was to immerse First and Second Form pupils of all linguistic abilities in French language and culture. With fun and interactive lessons each morning that were aligned closely to our own curriculum, the idea was to consolidate their knowledge of French, challenge them to push themselves further, and provide them with the confidence and enthusiasm that are needed in order to speak a foreign language.
In the afternoons, they undertook several fun activities such as rock climbing, aeroball, circus skills, archery, a visit to the Bayeux tapestry museum, bread making, and bowling. As the photos show, they even had the chance to immerse themselves fully in the French mud of the assault course!
In addition to this, the staff at the Château dedicated their time in the evenings to provide entertainment such as competitive quizzes, trips to the local cinema, talent shows and a night in th.e Games Room. As the name of the trip suggests, the pupils were fully immersed in the French language and culture from the moment they arrived to the moment they left, even ordering every meal in French.
