Kimbolton U11 Girls Retain Relay Title
Our U11 girls’ cross country team claim victory at the Spratton Hall relays to retain the title they won last year.
Kimbolton’s U11 girls’ cross country team underlined their superb national standard credentials this season with an excellent victory at the Spratton Hall relays to retain the title they won last year.
Olivia Corner, Sadie Werrett (Y5), Lucia Mosca and Maddie Todd left a field stacked with renowned opposition in their wake, romping home around 40 seconds clear of the host team. With each girl running around 1,000 metres – and, in doing so, negotiating the notorious ‘death hill’ towards the end – the going was mostly boggy but nothing dampened the girls’ determination, confidence and drive. A phenomenal performance from a first-class team.
Our boys’ squad, comprising Sam Evans, Guy Cubitt, Ben Knights and Edward Lawrence, came home a creditable 5th in their race in another high standard affair. Noteworthy was Captain Ed’s final leg where, despite slipping on a bend, he still managed to pick up three places… and ensure the equally-impressive Maddie – running last leg for the girls – was kept at bay. (The girls ran with the boys and, towards the end of Lucia’s storming third leg, it looked like they might dent the boys’ pride!)
A big thank you, as always, for Mrs Evans’ support at the event and, of course, the ‘Kimbolton faithful’ whose rousing encouragement means so much to our athletes. Next up, The Swanbourne Chase, near Milton Keynes, on Thursday 4 February.
