    Exhibition Awards for Musicians

Pupils achieve excellent results in recent ABRSM examinations.

Kimbolton School Music Exhibition Award WinnerTwo talented Senior School pupils have been awarded new Music Exhibitions, following ABRSM examinations at the end of the Autumn term. Upper Sixth Former James Blane, 17, achieved a Merit in his Grade 7 Singing, while Fourth Former Emma Blakey, 15, secured a Distinction in her Grade 5 piano.

All of our Exhibition recipients are expected to be active members of one or more school ensembles so that, while experiencing the fun of performing with others, their music-making experience and repertoire are extended. Emma, 15, is in our Senior Choir and Guitar Group, while James, 17, sings in both our Senior Choir and Chamber Choir - and is keen to turn his love of music into a career. He said: "I'm taking Physics, Maths and Music at A Level, and will also be taking my Grade 8 Singing in the Summer term. I'm hoping to study Music and Sound Recording at university."

Exhibitions, in the form of four terms of instrumental tuition funded by the School, are awarded to all those who pass exams at Grade 5 or above with a Merit or a Distinction. On achieving each higher grade, the Exhibition is re-awarded. This term, Exhibitions were also re-awarded to the following pupils: Andrew Finch (Percussion) – Grade 6 Merit; Christopher Neal (Flute) – Grade 7 Distinction; and Henrietta Woods (Clarinet) – Grade 7 Merit.
