Equestrian Success at Addington
Riders battle Storm Brian to put in an impressive performance at the NSEA Championships.
Our equestrian team battled Storm Brian to put in an impressive performance at the National Schools Equestrian Association Championships in Addington, Bucks, during half term (Oct 19-22). Fiona Denton, Joshua Denton, Eve Duberly and Katie Jackson finished 9th out of 34 teams in the dressage – an amazing achievement, as this is the first time that Kimbolton has qualified for the final.
In the show jumping final, Eve, Fiona and Katherine Watson competed in the 90cm class to finish 35th out of 50, while in the 1m event Josh, Katherine and Lucy Price were 26th out of 37 teams. As we were unable to field teams of four due to injuries, these were pleasing results.
Meanwhile, in the Jumping with Style classes, Poppy Proietti jumped an impressive clear in the 70cm finishing 19th out of 36 riders. The optimum time was very fast. In the 1m team event, Kimbolton was the only team to jump clear - but again, time was tight. While we were not quite fast enough, we still finished a very creditable 11th out of 26.
Our equestrian club's annual Autumn show took place at Backnoe End on the final Sunday of half term and it was great to see so many Kimbolton riders of all ages and abilities, including those who do not own ponies. Competition was fierce with a number of riders in their first ever competition. All pupils did very well and went home with rosettes.
Well done to Millie Mear winning the 50cm, Pippa Moore 80cm, Poppy Proietti 90cm and Fiona Denton 1m. Special thanks to Rebecca Bowen and Amaya Ferry-Jones for being the arena party.
