Top Art Prize for Anna
Sixth Former wins first prize in the University of Northampton ‘Schools Art & Design Competition’ 2017.
Sixth Former Anna Ellerbeck has been recognised as one of the region’s top young artists in the University of Northampton ‘Schools Art & Design Competition’ 2017.
Anna won first prize in the Graphics and Illustration category, with her dry point etching ‘Playground Games’. The senior lecturer at Northampton School of the Arts said: “We particularly liked this entry for its playfulness, strong drawing and mastery of the craft of dry point etching.”
Now in its fourth year, the competition is aimed at Sixth Form students from across the East Midlands, and aims to find the region’s brightest young artistic talent. There were a record 400 pieces entered into this year’s event, from 20 schools.
Selected entries, including all of those from Kimbolton, will be displayed in an exhibition at the University’s Avenue Gallery until 14 December – offering students and teachers an opportunity to see their work displayed alongside that of other schools from across the region.
Head of Art Mrs Lisa Bamford, who attended the awards evening, said: “Our students found the work from the other schools inspiring and time and again the University staff commented on the very high quality of the work on display.”
