Distinction for Isabella
Sixth Form clarinettist passes her Grade 8 ABRSM exam with flying colours.
Senior School clarinettist Isabella has had her name added to our Music Department honours board after achieving a coveted Distinction at Grade 8 in her recent ABRSM exam.
The Lower Sixth Form student and Music Exhibition Award holder is currently studying for A Levels in Music, Art and Art History, and is a keen member of the School clarinet choir, orchestra, concert band and CCF band. Her ambition is for a career as a professional musician.
Mention must also be made of two new Music Exhibition Award winners: Mollie, who passed Grade 5 flute with Merit, and Alex, who passed Grade 5 singing with Distinction. A further Exhibition was re-awarded at a higher grade to Ben, who achieved Grade 7 singing with Distinction.
Exhibitions, in the form of four terms of instrumental tuition funded by the School, are awarded to all those who pass exams at Grade 5 or above with a Merit or a Distinction. On achieving each higher grade, the Exhibition is re-awarded. All Exhibition recipients are expected to be active members of one or more school ensembles so that, while experiencing the fun of performing with others, their music-making experience and repertoire are extended.
