Harvest Collection Helps Local Community
Pupils collect a bumper crop of Harvest Festival donations for local foodbanks.
Kind-hearted pupils have collected a bumper crop of Harvest Festival donations for local foodbanks that provide support to people in crisis. At both the Prep and Senior School, families have donated hundreds of tins, boxes and bags of food and toiletries, with items ranging from toothpaste and shower gel to packets of cereal and pasta.
At the Prep School our Chaplain, Mr Peter Crawford, led a special assembly on Wednesday as we welcomed Mrs Sarah Broughton from Bedford Foodbank to accept our Harvest gifts. At the Senior School, a service was held in our Chapel and a similar collection of non-perishable goods was donated to the Irthlingborough Food Bank.
Foodbank volunteers work with referral partners and aim to provide a minimum of three days’ emergency food and support to people experiencing crisis, for reasons ranging from redundancy to receiving an unexpected bill on a low income.
Thank you so much to everyone who has made a Harvest donation - as always, you have been incredibly generous.
