    Masterclasses

Stop Press for Head Teachers, Parents and Carers!

Our next Saturday Masterclasses will be for 2018-19 Year 6 children and will be held in Autumn Term 2018.

We have written to head teachers of participating schools to invite them to nominate suitable pupils and all places have now been offered and accepted.

On Thursday 18 October we will be hosting our next Chemistry Masterclass for 2018-19 Year 6 pupils. We will write to head teachers of participating schools with details of tickets in mid-September.

Please read through this page carefully then use the links below or left to refer to the individual course pages.

    About our Masterclasses

Our Masterclasses programme received national recognition when it was shortlisted for a Times Educational Supplement Independent Schools Award in 2016.

Each academic year we hold 'Masterclasses' for local primary school children.

We aim to bring together like-minded children to explore their subjects in a fun yet thought-provoking way. The sessions are highly interactive and give the children the chance to meet and work with others from a wide range of schools. Many of our Masterclass pupils have found the whole experience to be a huge confidence booster plus excellent preparation for their moves to secondary school.

Designed for Year 5 children (Year 6 in the Autumn Term) who have a genuine interest and ability in their subjects, the classes run as follows:

    Term Course Duration
Spring Philosophy for Children Four 90-minute sessions on Saturday mornings
(for Year 5) Spanish Language and Culture Four 90-minute sessions on Saturday mornings
Chemistry Single 90-minute evening demonstration with plenty of audience participation
Summer History and English Six one-hour sessions on Saturday mornings
(for Year 5) Mathematics Six one-hour sessions on Saturday mornings
Sciences Six 90-minute sessions on Saturday mornings
Physics Single 90-minute evening demonstration with plenty of audience participation
Autumn History and English Six one-hour sessions on Saturday mornings
(for Year 6) Mathematics Six one-hour sessions on Saturday mornings
Sciences Six 90-minute sessions on Saturday mornings
Chemistry Single 90-minute evening demonstration with plenty of audience participation

Each Saturday Masterclass session is independent of the others - but we do expect children to commit to taking a complete series of classes.  With the exception of the Chemistry and Physics Masterclasses, which may be attended alongside Saturday ones, children may participate in only one course per term.  Please note that, while we welcome all applications, those from children who have already attended a Masterclass will be given a lower priority for any further courses.

There is no charge for our Masterclasses.

We welcome feedback from parents and children - look at our Testimonials page to see what others think of our Masterclasses programme.
