OKA Summer Reunion 2019
Saturday 29 June 2019
Our main event in the OKA calendar! Last year we welcomed a record number of OKs back to the School - it was a pleasure to see so many former pupils and staff enjoying memories, looking around the School grounds, playing sport against current pupils and making the most of a beautiful sunny day. We hope that this will be replicated at this year's summer reunion on Saturday 29 June!
The OKA Committee are already planning the day and details of the main activities are outlined below; please note that this may change, so please keep an eye on this page nearer the time.
If you are interested in coming along and would like further information, please do not hesitate to contact Helen Hopperton.
Matches against School teams will be played throughout the day; the match timings are as follows:
0900 Canoeing - Huntingdon
1100 Tennis (Ladies & Men's) - Castle Courts
1100 Rounders - Heath Field
1130 1st XI Cricket - Castle Pitch
1300 2nd XI Cricket - Welsted Pitch (Prep School)
1300 Sailing - Grafham Water
1400 Year Group Football Tournament - The Mall
Please contact the relevant Sports Manager or Helen Hopperton if you are interested in playing - although OKs do have a competitive spirit, matches are relaxed with the focus on getting OKs together and enjoyment of the sport in question, so you do not need to be an expert to take part! We are particularly interested in hearing from more tennis players...
Fun for the Family
OKs are welcome to bring their families along! For those of you with children there will be a Bouncy Castle to keep them occupied plus, of course, there also the grounds for children to run around, so there should be plenty to keep them busy while you catch up with old school friends. The swimming pool will also be open between 1400 and 1455 for OKs and their families - please note that U8s will need to be accompanied by an adult.
A tour of the Castle will be organised during the afternoon.
OKs will be free to wander around the School, however we cannot guarantee that all buildings and classrooms will be open, therefore if you would specifically like to view a particular area please get in touch with Helen Hopperton beforehand.
Photos, old school magazines etc. will be on display in the Green Room all day and the Heritage Room in the Castle will open at 3.00 pm.
Armed Forces Day Service
OKs are welcome to attend the service of thanks and commemoration being held in St Andrew's Church, Kimbolton at 11.00 am to support Armed Forces Day. The service will be followed by light refreshments in the Mandeville Hall.
Refreshments are available from 12.00 pm onwards in the guise of a BBQ and Bar; and complimentary Afternoon Tea will be served in the Saloon at 3.00pm.
You are welcome to bring your own picnics!
Year Group Reunions
The Summer Reunion is a great opportunity to organise year group reunions; we usually see groups of OKs getting together to celebrate a specific anniversary of leaving school (1st, 5th, 10th ... up to 40th, 50th & 60th!). If you haven't already been in touch with your old school friends and are interested in getting a group together, please get in touch with the OKA Office who will be happy to help.
We already know of reunions for the following year groups - to find out more about their plans please get in touch with the contact listed:
OKA SUMMER BALL
The summer reunion continues into the evening with the OK Summer Ball - this is the most popular social event in the OK calendar!
