    Prep Extra-Curricular Activities - Autumn Term 2020

    Below are the provisional lists of Prep School extra-curricular clubs and activities on offer to Lower Prep and Upper Prep pupils in the Autumn Term 2020. Online bookings have now closed and places will be confirmed before the end of this term.

    Please note: all clubs and activities may be subject to review or modification at any time, depending on ongoing government guidance and to ensure the safety of all pupils and staff.

     

    Lower Prep (Reception, Year 1 and Year 2) Extra-Curricular Activities List

    Children may attend one activity per week, with the exception of  Y1 Stringlets, Y2 Ministrings and Dance, for which there is a termly charge, and which may be selected in addition to any other activity. Each session runs from 15.35 until 16.05 unless otherwise stated.

    Pupils may also attend Film Club until 16.05 - if you wish your child to use Film Club, please inform the class teacher; there is no need to book online.

    Supervised prep for Year 2 children attending Kim Club is available on Tuesday and Wednesday from 15.35 until 16.05.

    Monday Construction Club  LDF   (PW) Reception, Y1 and Y2 12 places. Come and enjoy building and creating out of all sorts of equipment. Use your imagination and complete challenges while you have construction fun.
        Story and Drama VH (LE) Y1 and Y2 12 places. Explore a story and develop your drama skills to act out the story and explore and develop some drama skills.
             
    Tuesday Storyland EW AE   Reception  12 places. Reception will have the chance to adventure into storyland, listening to and exploring a story, the characters, and the language. Get lost in your imagination.
      Board Games

    Y1 and Y2

    12 places. Have fun playing board games, taking turns and having fun.

      Stringlets (See Note 1) Music staff Y1 6 places. A beginners group offering an early experience of learning the violin in a fun and pro-active way. Takes place 1545-1615 - see Note 1.
               
    Wednesday Science Club LC (LE) Y1 and Y2 12 places. Have fun with science. We will ask questions, experiment, and explore lots of ideas. Get ready to ask, why and how?
             
    Thursday Lego AY AK Y1 and Y2 14 places. Use Lego to test your construction and design skills, while having Lego fun of course.
      Ministrings (see Note 1) Music staff Y2 6 places. A beginners group offering an early experience of learning the violin in a fun and pro-active way. Takes place 1545-1615 - see Note 1.
             
    Friday Animation Club CF (?AF) Reception, Y1 and Y2 12 places. Become a movie director or game designer. Express your creativity in digital animation. places. 

    Notes :

    1. Stringlets and Ministrings. A charge (currently £115 per term, including music and hire of violin) applies and will be added onto your end of term bill. NB: Classes take place from 1545-1615; children attend Film Club for 15 minutes beforehand and are taken by staff to the Music Room for the start of their lesson. Children should be collected by parents from the Music Room.

     

    Upper Prep (Years 3-6) Extra-Curricular Activities List 

    All Upper Prep children are eligible for all activities and clubs unless otherwise stated. Some clubs have a limited number of places. Please read the notes about each club carefully.

    Tuesday Before School Running Squad Training
    A weekly training session for more serious runners who wish to be considered for the school cross country team. Please sign up to indicate interest; final selection will be by trial at the start of the Autumn Term – details to be confirmed.

    Come and help plan charity events in school and investigate other charity initiatives we could explore. Not available for Year 4 pupils due to curriculum swimming lessons. NB: It is possible that the day for this club may change.     Tuesday After School Y3 and Y4 Games Club 
    Autumn Term sports choices will be Hockey, Football and Netball. Children will be able to choose on a week-by-week basis which they would like to try. There is no need to specify the sport on the booking form.

    Depending on Social Distancing requirements, numbers may have to be limited or this club may need to operate on a ‘Week A, Week B’ rota to allow maximum participation.

    A club for everyone, no matter what your running ability, to improve your fitness and well-being. Not available for Year 3 pupils due to curriculum swimming lessons.

    Wednesday After School Y5 Cookery
    Create an array of mouth-watering recipes! Children will need to provide their own ingredients (and possibly utensils/containers). Please ensure that all allergy information is up to date.

    Come and enjoy a variety of fun art and DT projects throughout the term.

    NB – For Year 3, this club will begin in Week 3.  Please sign up if interested, a place will be reserved (subject to availability) and children will be able to join once they are settled into Upper Prep school life.

    Whether ‘Grand Master’ or complete novice, have a great time playing chess with your friends.

      Y4-6 Swim Team Training
    This activity is a weekly training session for the school swimming team. Trials will be held on Wednesday 16th September and would-be participants must have achieved at least their 400m distance certificate. Places will be awarded based on ability and performance in the trials and the team selected will then train every Wednesday and prepare for competitive galas against other schools.

    Come and have fun creating some simple animations using the iPads.

      Y3-6 Wellbeing Club
    Each week in this new club children will be offered a range of activities they can choose to join in with, all with a focus on wellbeing – e.g. craft, colouring, photography, cake decorating, relaxation. There will be a new Kindness Focus every half term where children will plan and carry out acts of kindness for others. At times during the year, we will also join with cookery club to treat the special people in our lives to a home cooked meal.
