First to Second Forms – compulsory for all pupils

We teach Textiles in small classes of about 12 pupils for half a year. Pupils develop skills in silk painting, dyeing, hand stitching, machine stitching, felt making and making rod puppets. They use a workbook to document their ideas and experiments as well as recording historical, technical and scientific textiles research.

    Extra-Curricular Activities

Our Textiles Club takes place after school and is open to any pupil from the First to Sixth Forms. The Club allows pupils to develop their interest in the subject further and provides the opportunity for more specialist, advanced and individual textiles work.

Regular Local Trips, Visitors and Competitions

Each year, the members of our Textiles Club enter the fashion challenge competition run by the college of West Anglia. Several hundred students enter each year and we have had results in the top 20 twice.
