    Positive Endorsements for Kimbolton School

Successful ISI Inspection – and our first appearance in The Good Schools Guide!

Pupils, parents, staff and governors are celebrating the successful outcome of the recent Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) visit – and our school’s first appearance in The Good Schools Guide.

The ISI report, which covers both the Preparatory and Senior Schools at Kimbolton, accurately portrays them as having a caring, family ethos and providing a high quality education for pupils of all ages. It highlights many of our school’s standout features including academic achievement, pastoral care and extra-curricular provision.

The inspectors noted that: “Pupils’ attitudes to their learning and their extra-curricular activities are consistently excellent, encouraged by teachers’ high expectations.”

The ISI inspection team also praised our school’s pastoral care, for both day and boarding pupils, as ‘excellent’ - the top rating inspectors can use - in the quality of pupils’ personal development. They judged that: “Pupils grow into mature, multi-faceted and empathic young adults with a strong awareness of their social responsibilities.”

This year Kimbolton has also been included for the first time in The Good Schools Guide (GSG), with the comment: “Those parents in the know appreciate that a Kimbolton education is money well spent.” The publication, an independent guide to UK education, prides itself on providing unbiased and candid reviews of both independent and state schools and, unlike many similar directories, does not accept payment from schools for their inclusion.

The GSG review captures the essence of a Kimbolton education, concluding that: “Pupils can spend their whole education at Kimbolton enjoying the benefits of a happy environment, small class sizes and excellent pastoral care. Not flashy but classy."

Reflecting on both reports, Headmaster Mr Jonathan Belbin said: “I’m very proud of our school and delighted that the hard work of our pupils, staff, parents and the wider school community has been recognised. Following on from our record A Level examination results in 2017, this positive endorsement from both the ISI and The Good Schools Guide is hugely welcome.”
