Pool Rules - Staying Safe when Using the Pool
- Please read and observe the pool rules displayed in the building.
- During the school term members of the public are requested not to enter the changing rooms without permission from the pool staff.
- Please leave the pool when the timetabled session ends, the pool staff have very little time to set up the facility for the following session. Swimming extra lengths after the session has ended is not allowed.
- The lifeguards are responsible for the Health & Safety of everyone in the building – please adhere to their instructions at all times.
- Kimbolton Senior & Prep School Pupils must pay an entry fee to use the swimming pool.
- All swimmers are requested to shower before using the pool as this improves the water quality for everyone.
- Customers are advised not to swim if they are suffering from an infection that may be passed through the water, particularly if they have diarrhoea. Ideally customers should not swim within a fortnight of a diarrhoeal infection.
- Babies under 6 months of age should not use the swimming pool.
- Parents should not be in the changing room while the swimmers are changing unless a child is of an age (Under 8 years) where he or she requires help specific additional assistance.
- Children over the age of 8 must use the correct changing room for their gender.
- Kimbolton School Swimming Pool accepts that children under 8 years of age may need help getting changed for swimming. Parents bringing younger children should use the correct gender changing room appropriate to the parent. ie: A mum helping her son should be using the female changing room and a Dad helping a daughter should be in the Male changing room.

All children under 8 years of age attending swimming lessons or indeed using the pool should not be left unsupervised in the changing areas/communal showers. Parents are responsible for their child/children's behaviour in the changing rooms/locker area.

Please use a locker to store your cloths or valuables - Kimbolton School cannot be held responsible for any items left in the changing rooms unattended.
- During swimming sessions for safety reasons all children under 8 years of age must be accompanied by an adult into the water.
- An adult may accompany up to 2 children under 8 years of age into the swimming pool.
- All children under 8 years of age must be supervised by an adult at arm’s length when using the pool.
- Non Swimmers and children wearing arm bands are not allowed in the deep end. Non swimmers accompanied by parents are not allowed in the deep end of the pool.
- No backward jumps into the pool.
- Bombing into the pool is not allowed.
- Running is not allowed on poolside.
- Handstands/Acrobatics in the water are not allowed as they could injure bathers.
- Diving is only allowed from the deep end of the pool (not from the side of the pool).
- All dives must be shallow with arms extended to protect the head.
- Diving from the start blocks is only allowed by qualified competitive club or school swimmers.
- Diving into the training lane during ‘General Swimming’ is prohibited.
- Running dives are not allowed.
- Somersaults into the pool are prohibited at all times.
- Diving is not allowed during the Adult and Ladies’ Swim sessions.
- Children (under 16 years of age) are not allowed to swim in the 'Adult Swim', 'Ladies Swim' and 'Rise N Shine' sessions.
- Children (over 10 years of age) are allowed to swim in the 'General Swim' lane to develop their fitness, provided they follow the swim direction signs.
- When swimming in the training lane(s) swimmers are asked to be considerate of others and use the lane which best matches their ability, speed and stroke. Please read our section on 'Lane Etiquette for Swimmers'.
- Balls, snorkels and full face masks are prohibited from all sessions - training snorkels are allowed.
- Throwing goggles or dive sticks is not allowed at any time.
- Training paddles and 'Zoomers' (short blade fins) are only allowed at the discretion of the staff on duty.
- During 'Float Fun' the pool is divided in half and the floats are prohibited from the deep end.
- Standing on the floats is not allowed.
- Jumping onto the floats from poolside is not allowed.
- Swimming under the floats is not allowed.
- Diving from the floats is prohibited.
- Stacking of floats is forbidden.
- Swimsuits (including children) must be worn in the communal shower at all times.
- Swimmers are allowed to swim wearing 'full body suits'.
- Prams and Buggies are not allowed in the changing rooms or on poolside.
- No outdoor shoes are allowed on poolside - please use the overshoes provided. Please put 'used' overshoes, into the waste bins provided.
- Photography or filming on poolside is prohibited with the exception of 'Birthday Party' Bookings.
- Face Masks covering a persons nose are not allowed - swimmers are only permitted to wear goggles.
- Mobile phones/ipads must not be used on poolside. If you receive a call or need to make an important call please leave the poolside area.
- Failure to follow the pool rules or the lifeguard's instruction could result in exclusion from the session.
- Last entry to the pool is 30 minutes before the end of the session.
- The rules are not exhaustive, please follow the lifeguard's instructions at all times.
- Kimbolton School Swimming Pool reserve the right to refuse admission.
