Joining Senior School (11+)
The quantity and pace of academic work steps up once more when pupils move to our Senior School at age 11. We offer a broad and balanced curriculum in our First to Third Forms which ensures pupils are academically engaged and keen to achieve while receiving a thorough grounding prior to making their public examinations choices for the Fourth and Fifth Forms. We offer additional opportunities for academic enrichment to our most able while supporting those that find aspects challenging.
Our staff are keen, talented and thoroughly involved in all aspects of school life, meaning that they get to know a wide variety of pupils, both in and out of the classroom. With a low staff turnover and a commitment to excellent teamwork, there is a real continuity of teaching and care throughout our school.
Our boarders are an important part of our community and are thoroughly integrated into the rest of the school. In addition to participating in Saturday sports and activities with everyone else, they also have a busy programme of evening activities and Sunday excursions.
The family feel of our school pervades all aspects of school life. It is large enough to have plenty to offer while ensuring that everyone is known and appreciated as an individual. Everyone meets twice a week for thought-provoking assemblies which include a celebration of individual and team success in all its forms.

Our pupils quickly gain a sense of pride in Kimbolton School and value the huge range of extra-curricular opportunities on offer, both after-school and at weekends. We run trips and visits throughout the year in support of our curriculum and offer a variety of clubs and societies, from Duke of Edinburgh to debating, and from philosophy to rifle shooting. With 16 ensembles, plenty of performance opportunities and individual tuition available in 26 different instruments, our music scene is rich, varied and vibrant. We stage one major drama production each year plus many minor ones that allow plenty of thespians, dancers and backstage enthusiasts to get involved.
Our fantastic sports facilities, which include astroturf pitches, tennis and netball courts, a modern 25m swimming pool, sports hall and acres of playing fields, coupled with our professional coaches ensure that we compete successfully in many different sports. Alongside these, we have a notable outdoor pursuits section offering canoeing, sailing, equestrianism, climbing and more which ensures that those less inclined to team sports can find a sporting passion.
Our five Houses give each child a sense of belonging to a smaller community and are the core of our excellent pastoral support. Personal tutors ensure that they become involved and progress in all aspects of school life. With optional tea with the boarders, it is possible for day pupils to remain on site until 6.20pm each day. Our coach system is used exclusively by Kimbolton pupils and is a popular choice for all ages.
