    Mathematics - Summer 2020

Our Mathematics Masterclasses aim to bring together like-minded Year 5 children (Year 6 in the Autumn Term) from local primary and middle schools to work through a variety of mathematical puzzles in an enjoyable and thought-provoking way.

In Summer Term 2020 we will be holding two identical courses (‘Aragon’ and ‘Popham’) of six sessions.  The dates are:

    • Saturday 25 April : Code Breakers
    • Saturday 2 May : How Computers Count
Break for Bank Holiday weekend (9 May)
    • Saturday 16 May :  How Bookmakers Win
Break for Kimbolton School Speech Day and half-term (23 and 30 May)
    • Saturday 6 June :  Maths Team Challenge
Saturday 13 June : Maths Assault Course
    • Saturday 20 June : The Menger Sponge

Each session runs for one hour with the timings outlined in the table below.  The first meeting will start with a short briefing for parents.

Although each session is independent of the others, we expect children to attend all of the Masterclasses in their course.  There is no charge but places are limited and we cannot guarantee a place for every child who applies.

We have written to head teachers of participating schools to invite them to nominate suitable children.  The deadline for applications is 9 am on Monday 23 March; we will confirm offers of places by the evening of Thursday 2 April. Our next series after this one will be for 2020-21 Year 6 pupils in Autumn Term 2020.

Joining instructions for successful applicants plus an aide-memoire for parents will be added below in April.
