KSPA Raises £2500 for Dan's Hope
Our parents' association, the KSPA, has presented local charity Dan’s Hope with a cheque for £2,500, following its successful Christmas Fair.
Kimbolton School Parents Association has presented Dan’s Hope with a cheque for £2,500, following a successful Christmas Fair which attracted several hundred visitors.
The event aimed to raise funds and awareness for the charity, which was set up by Kimbolton School parents James and Debra McLellan after their son, Dan, a Year 1 pupil, was diagnosed with Ullrich congenital muscular dystrophy. There are fewer than 300 children in the world who are recognised as having this progressive condition – many of them never walk and some, like six-year-old Dan, struggle with stairs, running and balance.
All of the donations received by Dan’s Hope go to fund research into Ullrich congenital muscular dystrophy. KSPA Chairman Mrs Karalee Picard presented the cheque to Dan and his family after school last week.
Visitors to the Fair enjoyed a unique festive shopping experience, browsing a range of quality gifts including jewellery, handbags and children's toys – as well as picking up some top tipple suggestions from St Neots wine merchants, The Smiling Grape Company.
Mr McLellan said: "We are absolutely thrilled with the impressive amount raised by Kimbolton School, and on behalf of Dan’s Hope I’d like to thank all the parents and staff for the hard work and dedication they’ve shown in raising such a wonderful sum. This donation will make such a difference to children like Dan who suffer from Muscular Dystrophy.”
The KSPA is led by an active group of enthusiastic parents who organise and manage social events to enhance the school community, raise funds for extra-curricular activities and donate to recognised charities.
Following on from the success of the KSPA’s Christmas Fair, don’t miss future events including their annual Fireworks Spectacular on Friday 6 November 2015.
