Hold the Front Page - in French!

Sixth Form students shine in language competition, with their newspaper Les Illuminés.

Kimbolton School Sixth Form French StudentsOur Sixth Form French students showed off their language skills yesterday in the Business Champions SCOOP Language competition at Oundle School.

Ioana Diac, Chloe Hunter, Daniel Koutný (all Lower Sixth), Beth Brown, and Lucy Mustard (both Upper Sixth) competed against 11 other teams in a journalism task that tested their linguistic skills and ability to work together. The aim was to produce a newspaper front page in French from news sources, press releases, and bulletins on the day, to include at least three articles and an advert. In addition, a Tweet and a poster “selling” the newspaper were prepared in the target language.

Head of French, Mr Rob Knell said: “The students were a credit to Kimbolton throughout, winning the first stage of the competition outright, with a written account of their hopes and aims. As well as the 12 teams, there were also various teachers, experts from journalism, and a UEFA journalist present. The level of language work, camaraderie, and drive were impressive. Our newspaper, Les Illuminés, is now on view in the Vanbrugh Library.”
