Prep Pupils Celebrate Queen's 90th Birthday
Rain fails to dampen the spirits of children in Reception to Year 6 as they celebrate the monarch’s milestone birthday with an indoor picnic!
Today our Prep pupils celebrated the 90th birthday of Queen Elizabeth II with a rousing rendition of the National Anthem during assembly and a patriotic lunchtime picnic. Summer showers put paid to plans for a feast on the Prep School fields, but the rain failed to dampen the spirits of our children, who all came to school wearing something red, white and blue as an accessory to their school uniform.
As part of the celebrations, pupils from Reception to Year 6 spent the morning in their classrooms putting together a timeline to map out the 90 years of the Queen’s life to date. All of them, with the help of their families, had researched facts and photos showing just how much our world has changed over the past nine decades. Their work, now on display in the Hunter Hall, highlights major events during the Queen’s reign and also illustrates how the youngsters of 1926 would have lived completely different lives to our children today.
In addition, at the Lower Prep, pupils created some royally-iced cupcakes in the shape of Corgis and Guardsmen.
