Rotary Quiz Success
Kimbolton students are top of the form in the inaugural St Ives Rotary Club inter-schools quiz competition.
A team of Kimbolton students has claimed victory in the inaugural St Ives Rotary Club inter-schools quiz competition. Captain Rowan Anderson, along with Jago Brockway, Simon Carter, Umar Chaudhari and Angus Gentles, held their nerve in a nail biting finish, beating Hinchingbrooke School into second place in what proved to be a close contest. Kimbolton scored 170 points, out of a possible 222 points – and won by just 1 point!
Each team was quizzed by the Rotary Club in their own school, simultaneously, with round by round scores rung into a central scorer. This made for a fun evening, with all the teams enthusiastically tackling questions about history, geography, general knowledge, maths, and popular culture. For instance: Do you know the name of the stretch of the water between Malaysia and Indonesia? (Answer: the Malacca Straights.)
Rotary Quiz organiser Mr Adrian Acton visited Kimbolton yesterday to present the winning team with a 'Top of the Form' Cup and a commemorative certificate during assembly. He said: “We have had tremendously positive feedback, not just from the children taking part, but also from their teachers. The whole evening has been a great success, with everyone thoroughly enjoying themselves.”
We look forward to defending our title next year!
