Bumper Crop of Harvest Festival Donations
Prep and Senior School pupils support foodbanks in Bedford and Irthlingborough.
Kind-hearted pupils from our Prep and Senior Schools have donated goods collected at our harvest festival to foodbanks in Bedford and Irthlingborough. Children and their families from Reception to the Sixth Form gave hundreds of tins, boxes and bags of food and toiletries to help support people in crisis, with items ranging from toothpaste and shower gel to packets of cereal and pasta.
Special mention must go to Year 6 pupils Natalie Berry, Erin Hurst, Charlotte Orchard, Joe Routledge, Lili Sljapic and Alana Willis, who all gave up two weeks' worth of breaktimes to help set up the impressive Prep Harvest Festival display. At the Prep School Mr Peter Crawford, School Chaplain, led a special assembly alongside Bedford Foodbank Project Manager Mrs Sarah Broughton, who said: “On behalf of the Bedford Foodbank I would like to thank Prep pupils for their support and very generous donation of 363.01kg of food, which calculates to 864 meals!” This is a new record for Kimbolton Prep; beating last year's total of 696 meals.
At both the Bedford and Irthlingborough Foodbanks, volunteers work with referral partners and aim to provide a minimum of three days’ emergency food to people experiencing crisis, for reasons ranging from redundancy to receiving an unexpected bill on a low income.
