Four of our Senior School athletes have qualified to represent the county after impressive performances at the annual Cambridgeshire Schools Cross Country Championships. A further three have been selected as reserves.
Second Former Owen Brownston (13th, Junior Boys) and First Formers Sophie Faulkner (3rd, Minor Girls), Kira Shipley (13th, Minor Girls) and Spencer Taylor (12th Minor Boys), all qualified after finishing in the top 14 in their races at King’s School, Ely on Saturday.
Lauren Elliott (15th, junior girls), Marcus Downhill (16th, Minor Boys) and Katie Lawrence (15th, Intermediate Girls) all narrowly missed out on a county place but have been asked to stand by as reserves.
Director of Sport Mr Matthew Gilbert said: “This is a tremendous result, especially considering we are one of the smaller secondary schools in Cambridgeshire. All of our athletes showed a positive and determined attitude in cold and challenging conditions."
Our athletes now join the Cambridgeshire team that will compete at the Anglian Cross Country Championships, to be held at the Princess Royal Arena, Boston, Lincs on 6 February. Good luck!
