Pupils Quiz Paxman
Award-winning journalist shares forthright views on Europe, politicians and America.
We were delighted to welcome the award-winning journalist, author and television presenter Mr Jeremy Paxman to Kimbolton this week, when he spoke to pupils, parents and staff at one of our regular Politics Society evenings.
Opening to a packed audience in the Lewis Hall, Mr Paxman shared his forthright views on Europe, politicians, America, and politics in general. The evening concluded with a lively question and answer session, with discussion ranging from the future of the main political parties and how social media is stifling political debate, to democracy in the European Union.
Our active Politics and Philosophy Society is open to all year groups, with a termly programme of meetings and guest speakers. Recent topics for discussion have included Mexican politics, the Northern Ireland peace process, and Green politics.
Head of Politics Mr Toby Leadbetter said: “In addition to a wide ranging and honest conversation with a large audience of around 350, Mr Paxman also spent time taking questions from students over tea and supper. He was most generous with his time and with sharing his views. Our students found him very engaging.”
Next up in the Politics Society Calendar: Mock Law Case at 1800 on Monday 16 October, in the White Hall. Pupils, staff and parents welcome. Our full programme of events and guest speakers can be downloaded below.
