District Cross-Country Success
Senior School runners qualify for County round of English Schools’ Cross-Country Championship.
Thirty-one of our Senior School athletes have qualified to represent Huntingdon District at the English Schools’ County Cross-Country Championship in the New Year. Our strong team of runners, competing across three age categories, all featured towards the front of the races at Hinchingbrooke School and Country Park on 22 November. Special mention goes to Connie and Olivia, who finished as District Champions in their respective Minor and Junior Girls’ categories.
In the boys’ races, 13 runners qualified for the next round. Sam and Livio finished 2nd and 3rd, respectively, in the Minor Boys’ category; while Markus and Spencer also finished 2nd and 3rd, respectively, in the Intermediate Boys’ race. Other top-10 finishes were Freddies M and S, Toby, William, Ross, Charlie, Louis, Oliver and Harry.
The girls managed an impressive 18 qualifiers for the County round, with 2nd place finishes, in their age group, for Ruby L, Pippa and Katie. Aoife, Isabella, Jodie, Lucia, Sophie, Amelie and Lauren all managed to finish in the top-10 of their races.
The English Schools’ Athletic Association National Cross Country Championship is one of the most popular events of the winter season, bringing together the best runners in each of England's counties to compete for the honour of being the best in the country.
Good luck to all our runners at the County Schools round, to be held on 12 January 2019.
