Pupils Rise to DTE Challenge
Kimbolton hosts Rotary Club’s annual technology tournament.
Today we welcomed 20 teams to Kimbolton to take part in the Rotary Club of Huntingdon’s tenth annual technology tournament. Teams from Abbey College, St Ivo School, Ernulf Academy, Hinchingbrooke School, Kimbolton School and Longsands competed in three categories (Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced).
Each team had to tackle an engineering challenge using basic materials including elastic bands, wood, wire, card and glue. Pupils were judged on their design portfolio, teamwork and problem-solving abilities during the day.
The task was successfully achieved by the majority of schools but the winning teams were Ernulf Academy (Foundation), Abbey College (Advanced), and Kimbolton (Intermediate) – congratulations to Fourth Formers Ollie, Alex, Josh and Owen. The winning teams each received certificates and an engraved glass trophy, donated by Urban & Civic plc.
Mr Kevin Spencer, Head of Design Technology Engineering at Kimbolton, said: “All of the pupils performed incredibly well to solve the challenging design brief and can be congratulated on their success.”
