    Award for Talented Artist

Senior School pupil wins 2nd prize in prestigious Northampton University competition.

Talented Sixth Form artist Lewis Meakin has won 2nd prize in the prestigious Northampton University’s ‘School of Art and Design Sixth Form Art Competition’. Lewis’ large scale drawing drew inspiration from Caravaggio’s ‘Entombment of Christ’ and was created while away on an art residential trip to Burwell House; there are some familiar faces in the drawing!

Mrs Lisa Bamford, Head of Art, said: “The judges of the Ocee Drawing Prize complimented Lewis on his ambition of scale and loose, fluid drawing. With 15 schools entering over 200+ pieces of art, Lewis has done well to receive such recognition.”

Mention must also be made of Daisy, Megan, Eilisha, Arin, Harriet and Ella, who all submitted paintings, drawings and prints into the Cambridgeshire Area Young Artists Competition. Their artwork was exhibited at Sawston Village College, along with work from over 40 other schools from across the region.

Ella Edwards won the Key stage 4 (GCSE) category of this competition, with a beautiful watercolour painting of her brother.
