Triple Silver in Chemistry Olympiad
Success for A Level Chemists in Royal Society of Chemistry's annual competition.
Three talented Kimbolton Chemists have been awarded Silver certificates in round one of the 51st International Chemistry Olympiad, with a further five of our students achieving Bronze awards. The annual competition is an opportunity for students to challenge themselves beyond the constraints of the A-level Chemistry course, helping them to develop creative thinking and apply their existing knowledge in new and interesting contexts.
Over 7000 students entered the Olympiad from across the UK, and all 30 of our Upper Sixth Form Chemists sat the paper last term – a challenging written test, with questions based on real world chemistry problems.
The five Kimbolton students who achieved a Bronze award are: Nicola Bright, Amber Butterfield, Felicity Choy Winters, Holly Fraser and Rory Vartanian. Three of our students went one better, receiving a prestigious Silver award, which is only given to the top 25% of entrants in what is a very competitive field. Well done to Umar Chaudhari, Hattie Dent and Anushka Shukla - and congratulations to everyone who took part.
