    Musical Launch to Ghana Week

A drumming workshop provided a lively musical launch to Ghana Week, our annual event in support of partner school Essaman United. The workshop is one of a programme of activities taking place until Friday 4 October, to promote and raise money for our Ghana Partnership with Essaman United.

Several groups of pupils have already visited the secondary school in Elmina, most recently in July 2019 – and they will be sharing their experiences at assembly on Wednesday. There will also be a Ghanaian dance workshop, stalls and a cake sale later this week.

Designed to promote cultural learning and understanding, the partnership engages both countries’ pupils and teachers, sharing projects and experiences whilst learning about each other’s lives.

Ghana Partnership coordinator and Geography teacher Mrs Julie Brown said: “I hope pupils will be inspired to take part in fundraising, get involved with the workshops, or to visit Essaman United in the future. We have big plans to expand the project in the coming years.”
