    Call-up to County Cricket Club

Talented Sixth Form cricketer selected to join Northamptonshire’s 2020 Emerging Player Programme.

Kimbolton School Cricketer Oliver Greenhow Selected for Northants Emerging Player programmeTalented Sixth Form cricketer Ollie Greenhow has been selected to join Northamptonshire’s 2020 Emerging Player Programme. The programme is the first rung on the ladder for the most promising players aged between 13 and 17 in the county. Youngsters were identified over the 2019 season, two trial days and a six-week observation process.

Performance Cricket & EPP Head Coach Mr Luke Swann described the new intake as a very exciting group of elite cricketers. “It was a fairly rigorous selection process whereby we tried to leave no stone unturned, selecting players that we feel show the potential to go forward and push for academy places over the next 12-18 months.”

Sixteen-year-old Ollie, who joined Kimbolton in Year 6 and is currently studying for A Levels in Geography, Business and Politics, regularly represents the School's 1st team in Cricket and Hockey, as well as playing 2nd team Football. He also plays for Godmanchester Cricket Club.

Kimbolton was recently named as one of the Top 100 cricketing schools in the UK, and Ollie will continue to benefit from our team of experienced coaches, led by professional ex-England player Alex Tudor. With five well-maintained pitches, indoor and outdoor nets, as well as a new Merlyn spin bowling machine, there are plenty of opportunities for pupils of all ages and abilities to hone their batting, bowling and fielding skills at both the Prep and Senior School.

Mr Tudor said: “I am delighted to hear that Ollie has been selected for the Northamptonshire EPP squad. His hard work, dedication and commitment has seen him progress year on year and he is a key player within our 1st team. He is thoroughly deserving of this opportunity and I know he will give it his all.”

Northamptonshire CCC have an excellent record of producing professional players who go on to represent both the county and England, with five academy graduates in the current first team squad. Alex Wakely, Rob Newton, Graeme White, Rob Keogh and Saif Zaib all developed through the pathway with the likes of David Willey, Ben Duckett and Olly Stone going on from Northamptonshire’s academy to international honours.

Ollie will start his EPP training on 14 January.
