    Award for Artist Annabelle

Third Former named overall winner of the Hidden Gallery Kids' Art Competition 2021.

Talented Third Form artist Annabelle has been named overall winner of the Hidden Gallery Kids' Art Competition 2021, with a witty and colourful pencil sketch inspired by surrealist artist René Magritte. The 14-year-old’s drawing of a banana and a pepper scooped first place in the competition, which attracted entries from more than 500 young artists aged 17 and under across the UK. A delighted Annabelle said: “I’m planning to spend my Amazon voucher prize on more art supplies - I’d really like to try out some different painting techniques next.”

Annabelle has enjoyed the opportunity to spend more time on her art during Covid-19 restrictions, and has chosen the subject as one of her GCSE options next term. Head of Art Mrs Lisa Bamford said: “At just 14 this a real achievement for Annabelle in such a wide age group category. I look forward to seeing her further develop her drawing skills as well as exploring other media through her GCSE studies. This competition is a great way for our pupils to share their creativity and innovation with a wider audience. Well done!"
