Bumper Harvest Collection
Prep and Senior pupils collect a bumper crop of Harvest Festival donations for local foodbanks.
Kind-hearted pupils have collected a bumper crop of Harvest Festival donations for local foodbanks that provide support to people in crisis. At both the Prep and Senior School, families have donated hundreds of tins, boxes and bags of food and toiletries, with items ranging from UHT milk and shower gel to packets of cereal and pasta.
At the Prep School our Chaplain, Revd Cathy Brazier, with the Revd Philip Howson, led a special Harvest Assembly today (Wednesday 19th October). We welcomed Ms Andrea Badman from Bedford Foodbank to receive the Prep School’s donation and talk about her work. Last year, the Prep School’s donations weighed a massive 413.6kg, which equates to 983 meals. This year, donations weighed a massive 459.69kg which is equivalent to 1094 meals, surpassing last year’s total and our target of 1000 meals!
At the Senior School, a service was held in our Chapel earlier this term and a similar collection of non-perishable goods was donated to the Irthlingborough Food Bank.
Both Bedford and Irthlingborough food banks provide emergency food parcels for families, couples and single people experiencing a temporary financial hardship, in the town and the surrounding area.
Thank you to all our pupils and families for your generous donations.
