    Gold for Kimbolton Athletes

Tiggy and Jemima help middle distance squad to team Gold in the U13 Girls’ Road Relay.

U13 Girls’ Midland Road Relay Champions

Kimbolton athletes Tiggy and Jemima helped Kettering Town Harriers middle distance squad to team Gold in the U13 Girls’ Midland Road Relay race at the weekend. Year 6 Tiggy, aged just 11 and competing in her first regional championship, ran a fantastic second leg, with Second Former Jemima - who has set 4 club records and a new school 800m record in an extraordinary track season - securing victory with the fastest lap of the day.

The team is now looking forward to the National Road Relays in 2 weeks’ time. Before that, we wish Jemima luck as she represents the Eastern Region in the Mini London Marathon on 3rd October. The event takes place on the last 2.6K of the world-famous London Marathon course, starting at Temple Place and finishing on The Mall. She will be competing alongside entrants from the nine regions of England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales, including teams from all 33 London boroughs.

Over the years the Mini Marathon has featured a number of future athletics stars, including Tokyo Olympics medallists Laura Muir, Keely Hodgkinson and Josh Kerr. Tokyo Paralympics medallists Hannah Cockroft and Kare Adenegan are both former winners of the Mini Marathon.
