    Record Awards for Debaters

Kimbolton team shines at Cheadle Hulme Model United Nations conference.

Success for Kimbolton debaters at Model United Nations

Twelve Kimbolton pupils competed against 36 other teams at the annual Cheadle Hulme Model United Nations conference on 9-10 October. There was tough competition from schools including Oakham, Manchester Grammar and Shrewsbury, as well as some delegations from overseas.

With the aim to debate from the perspective of a particular country, Emily, Mollie, Ben, Harriet, Caitlin and Alistair represented the Central African Republic whilst Sam, Mimi, Anna, Mariko, Tawana and Thomas represented Bolivia.

The whole team did superbly well to secure a record number of awards. Pride of place went to Tawana who won the Science and Environment committee, whilst Harriet and Emily were highly commended, meaning a top three finish, in the Historical and Political committees respectively. In addition, Mariko, Anna and Sam were all commended, meaning a top five finish for their debating too.

In the overall team awards, both Bolivia and the Central African Republic were commended, placing them both in the top 5 teams in the final reckoning, whilst Caitlin and Mollie also received an award for their performance in the General Assembly.

Congratulations to all involved on these exceptional results!
