Pupils Equal to Maths Challenge
Five go through to next round of UK Mathematics Trust intermediate competition.
Congratulations to all of our Third, Fourth and Fifth Form pupils who won certificates in the UK Mathematics Trust Intermediate Mathematical Challenge, taken before half-term. High scores from Victoria, Callum, Alex, Sam and Filip mean they have all qualified for the second round of the competition in March.
The following achieved a Gold certificate, and thus also win one of Mr Jessup’s coveted mechanical pencils: Alex, Sam, Filip, Austin, Daniel, Arnav, Edward and Henry.
The Challenge is a national 60-minute, multiple-choice competition aimed at pupils in Year 11 and below. It encourages mathematical reasoning, precision of thought, and fluency in using basic mathematical techniques to solve interesting problems. The problems on the Intermediate Mathematical Challenge are designed to make pupils think.
