Our equestrian team has enjoyed some great success over half-term. Year 6 Prep pupil Charlie competed in the National Schools Equestrian Association Plate competition at Keysoe, Bedfordshire, coming 5th in the national show jumping 70cm competition, 1st in his dressage class and 4th in the combined national dressage championship.

We also had a number of riders make the trip to Eland Lodge in Derbyshire for an Eventer Challenge competition, consisting of show jumps and simulated cross-country fences including ditches, water and banks - all of which had to be jumped as close to the optimum time as possible. In the Novice 80-85cm class Molly claimed her first win for Kimbolton, with Emmy on her first outing for our school coming second. Tilly was unlucky to get a pole but still helped the team to a 2nd place finish overall.

In the Intermediate 90-95cm class there were 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishes for Daniel, Rebecca and Emmy, resulting in a team win. Our second team with Tilly, Daniel on another horse and Livi jumped well to take 5th. Lastly, in the Open 1m class Daniel and Rebecca jumped again, with Daniel 1st and Rebecca 4th. This means we have qualified as individuals and teams for the Championships to be held at Hickstead in May.

Equestrian team manager Mrs Lucy King said: “This has been our most successful day post-pandemic restrictions and things are looking very promising for the future, with younger riders such as Charlie doing so well. We have a busy month ahead, which includes the County Championship on the 27th November.”
