    Success for Purple Paddlers

Team and individual success at the National Schools Kayak Championships.

A great start to the canoeing season for our purple paddlers, with a team win in the marathon race at the National Schools Kayak Championships (20 November). Other notable results included a win in the ladies marathon for Izzy D and Alex, 3rd in the ladies marathon and 1st in the ladies sprint for Rachel and Emily, 3rd place in the sprint for Ben and Noah, and 4th place in the sprint and marathon for Tom and Toby.

Six Kimbolton crews, competing in two-person racing kayaks, took part in the the event held at Hawley Lake in Camberley, Surrey. The Championships are a key event in the build up to to the Devizes to Westminster international canoe race (7-10 April 2023), offering an early opportunity for racing against paddlers from other school teams.

Kimbolton Canoeing Captain, Noah, said: "Despite an especially competitive year, strong performances throughout helped the team prevail, winning the team marathon event for the second year running, after having not won it since 1999. We hope to continue this good form going into our Waterside series of races and DW next year."
