Swimming Success for Tilly
Talented Second Form swimmer Tilly has been selected by Swim England East to attend the Regional Development Programme 2022-23.
Talented Second Form swimmer Tilly has been selected by Swim England East to attend its Regional Development Programme 2022-23. Selection is based on the top 24 fastest 200m Individual Medley swimmers in the region. The 12-year-old has been on top form this year, recently achieving a personal best in both the heats and finals of the 100m Fly at her first East Regional Championships in May.
Tilly joined Kimbolton in her Reception year and started competitive swimming aged nine, with Bedford Modernians. She has regularly represented Kimbolton in galas at the Prep, and also qualified for Independent Association of Prep Schools (IAPS) events. She is now looking forward to attending additional training sessions and workshops led by regional and national coaches. Her current aim is to qualify and compete at the Welsh Nationals in 2023.
Tilly, who lists Adam Peaty, Katie Ledecky and Michael Phelps as her swimming heroes, was lucky enough to meet another Olympian earlier this month when English elite swimmer Kate Haywood visited Kimbolton. During a Games lesson, along with other pupils, Tilly chatted with Kate about Kate’s own development path and swimming successes.
The Development Programme is part of the National Talent pathway, which identifies and supports talented swimmers to reach their potential - for some, it can be the first step on the path to future Olympic, Paralympic and Commonwealth success. Fingers crossed, Tilly!
