Kimbolton welcomes Sam Venn as the new Director of Development

I’m delighted to have joined Kimbolton as Development Director.  It’s clearly an exciting time to be joining the school, and I am very much looking forward to getting to know many of you over the coming months.

My role as Development Director is all about seeking donations for the school. Whilst this is a new role for the School, our history books show that fundraising is not a new activity for Kimbolton: several appeals over the years have resulted in generous donations being made to enhance the School and its facilities. My hope is that we can build on these successes and continue to secure gifts for the School, as this support will enable us to enhance our facilities, as well as provide more bursaries and financial assistance to students who need them.

By way of background about myself: I was at school in Southwell and in Cirencester, before reading for a degree in Theology at the University of Durham.  For the last twenty years, I’ve worked in fundraising and alumni relations for a series of Colleges at the University of Cambridge (Christ’s, Trinity Hall, Girton, Clare, and Darwin).  I’m married to Caroline, who teaches RE at Sawston Village College, and we have two boys: Sebastian (age 4) and Theodore (age 1). Outside of work – and when I’m not taking my boys to see tractors – I enjoy running and rowing.

If you would like to talk about how you might support the school, please do get in touch; I’d be delighted to hear from you. I feel thrilled to be joining the Kimbolton community, and I look forward to working with you to advance the School’s educational mission.
